What happens to your files
Everything below happens inside your browser, on your own device. The PDFs are never uploaded, so nobody else, including us, can see them.
- Your browser reads the PDFs into memory. Nothing is sent over the network.
- Pages are copied exactly as they are. Text, images and fonts are not re-compressed or changed, so nothing gets blurrier.
- Links inside a document, such as a table of contents or “see page 12”, still take you to the right page.
- Bookmarks are kept. Each file also gets its own bookmark with its file name, so you can jump between the original documents.
- Form fields stay fillable. If the same form appears twice, the second copy’s fields are renamed, so filling one does not change the other.

How to merge PDFs
- Choose two or more PDFs, or drop them onto the box. You can add more at any time.
- Put them in order: drag a file by its handle, or use the arrows. “Sort A–Z” orders them by file name. The file at the top comes first.
- Press “Merge PDFs” and download the result.
- Need it smaller? Press “Compress this file” to open it in the compress tool, still without uploading.
When people use it
Application packets
Many portals accept only one file. Merge your ID copy, certificates and transcript into a single PDF, then compress it to fit the size limit.
Expense claims
Combine receipts and invoices into one file for reimbursement or for your accountant.
Scanned pages
Phone scanner apps often save each page as a separate PDF. Merge them back into one document.
Reports and course material
Join chapters, handouts or appendices so they can be read, printed and shared as one file.
What it can’t do
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password first, or leave that file out.
- Accessibility tags used by screen readers are not carried over to the merged file.
- Dynamic XFA forms (forms that only work in Adobe Reader) lose their XFA part. Their regular form fields are kept.
- Page labels (such as i, ii, iii) and document scripts are not copied.
- The merged file is usually no bigger than the files put together. Compress it afterwards if you need it smaller.
- Very large files can be slow on older phones, because all the work happens on the device.
Questions about merging PDFs
Will merging lower the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing images or fonts. The merged pages look exactly like the originals.
How many files can I merge?
There is no fixed limit. Your device’s memory is the only limit.
Can I change the order?
Yes. Drag a file by its handle, or use the arrows next to it, before you press “Merge PDFs”. The file at the top comes first.
Can I merge and then compress?
Yes. After merging, press “Compress this file”. The merged PDF opens in the compress tool directly, without being uploaded.
Can I pick only some pages?
Not in this tool. Every page of every file is included. After merging, open the file in Organize PDF to delete or reorder pages.
