What happens to your file

Everything below happens inside your browser, on your own device. The PDF is never uploaded, so nobody else, including us, can see it.

  1. Your browser reads the PDF into memory. Nothing is sent over the network.
  2. pdfMB changes only the rotation setting of each page. The text, images and fonts on the page are not touched, so nothing gets blurrier.
  3. Links, bookmarks and form fields keep working.
  4. The rotation is saved in the file, so every PDF reader shows the pages the right way up.

How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Choose a PDF. A preview of every page appears.
  2. Tap each page that needs turning. Each tap turns it a quarter turn clockwise, and the ↺ button turns it the other way. To turn many pages at once, pick all, odd or even pages and press “Rotate left” or “Rotate right”.
  3. Press “Save rotated PDF” and download it.

When people use it

Upside-down scans

A page fed into the scanner the wrong way round comes out upside down. One tap fixes it.

Sideways phone scans

Scanner apps sometimes save pages sideways. Turn them before sending the file on.

Wide tables and charts

Landscape pages inside a portrait report are easier to read when turned the right way.

Whole documents

A file that opens sideways on every page can be fixed in one go. In double-sided scans where every second page is upside down, rotate only the even pages.

What it can’t do

  • Pages turn in quarter turns only. A page scanned slightly crooked cannot be straightened.
  • The whole page turns. One part of a page cannot be turned on its own.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password first.
  • A digital signature in the PDF is no longer valid after any change, including rotation.

Questions about rotating PDFs

Does rotating lower the quality?

No. Only the page’s rotation setting changes. Nothing on the page is re-compressed or redrawn.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Tap just the pages you want to turn. The others stay as they are.

Will the pages stay rotated in other apps?

Yes. The rotation is saved in the PDF, so it shows the same way in every PDF reader and when printed.

Which way does a tap turn the page?

Clockwise, a quarter turn per tap. The ↺ button on each page turns it counterclockwise instead.

Can I rotate only the odd or even pages?

Yes. Choose “Odd” or “Even” above the pages, then press “Rotate left” or “Rotate right”. This fixes double-sided scans where every back page came out upside down.
